Today, the Commerce Industry has modeled as a single Global Market due to Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization. Hence, the technological development leads to computer assisted training and profession oriented skill development. The UG Department of Commerce with Computer Applications was introduced in NGM College during the Academic Year 2000-‘01 with the motto of providing quality education in commerce with the immense computer background. During the year of commencement, there was one faculty with twenty-one students in the department and the students’ strength has considerably increased to 156 in 2006-‘07. Due to the increased demand for the course, an Additional Section was introduced by our Management in the Academic Year 2007-’08.
The thirst for higher studies was also fulfilled by introducing M.Com-CA Programme during the Academic Year 2011-’12. Further, to benefit the part-time job goers the Second Shift, B.Com-CA, was introduced during 2012-’13. At present, the total students strength in the Department is 590. The department has more than 1000 passed out students. The department actively involves itself in various innovative academic enrichments, student care programmes and extension activities and thereby is one among the leading department in the Institution.
Infrastructure
- The department is equipped with eleven class rooms with sufficient seating facilities
- The department is provided with three systems with internet facilities and also having two LCDs
- The department is equipped with a separate library facility to the students as well staff members with more than 150 books
- Central Lab and Library facilities are also available to the students

- The department is offering Certificate Course on DeskTop Publishing to M.Com-CA Students
- Seminars and Group discussion on recent issues are encouraged among the students for knowledge sharing and to remove their stage fear
- Inter-Department Competitions is conducted among students every year to show and improve their special talents
- Workshops on Preparation for Placement and Career Development are organised at regular intervals to prepare the students for placement
