The NGM top premier Alumni Cell was started in 2003. The college has grown into one of the institutions in the country. More than 60,000 students have benefitted from the college since its inception. The Alumni cell left no stone unturned in collecting the details of Alumni from various sources. more than two thousand members occupy key positions in various organizations.
The first NGM Alumni meet was held on 26, Feb 2006 with all pomp and splendour. More than 1500 NGM alumni registered and participated in the first alumni meet with spirit and enthusiasm. The registered members include two Vice-Chancellors, nine IPS Officers, nine doctors, more than one hundred lawyers, above two hundred Software Engineers, hundreds of Professors, Teachers and Chartered Accountants. Among the dedicated faculty of NGM, 115 are Alumni. In addition to this, thousands of Alumni are working in Nationalised Banks, Insurance Companies, Govt organisations, Public sector undertakings and are also engaged in Business and Agriculture. More than 300 NGM Alumni are employed in various Multinational companies in USA, UK, Canada and other European countries.
Alumni excel wherever they are because of the value based education offered in the college. There are two Alumni chapters, one in Chennai with 65 members, and another in Bangalore with 75 members, most of whom are software engineers. NGM students in the USA and Canada have established Alumni chapters in their respective countries. Last year a batch of 20 foreign Alumni visited our campus and they were astonished by the growth of the college. We are very happy to announce that they have voluntarily promised to make a substantial contribution for the development of the infrastructure in the campus during the golden jubilee year. The Association honors outstanding Alumni every year in recognition of their contribution to the Society.
Students/staff shall scan their ID card in the E Gate Register scanner while entering and leaving the library. Books shall be issued only on production of Bar-coded ID card. Strict silence shall be maintained in the library. Personal belongings like files, folders, bags, personal books, bound notebooks, issued books etc are not allowed inside the library. They should be kept on the rack provided at the entrance of the library. Mobile phones and other devices should be in silent mode. Laptops may be used inside the libraries (without any audio). For the benefit of its users, library is following the Open Access System. The books, current journals, back volumes taken out the racks shall not be replaced. They should be left only on the tables. Well trained Library assistants are there to replace them in the proper places. Library books should be handled with utmost care. Marking or any kind of scribbling on pages or folding of page is strictly prohibited. Mishandling or damage to the books will invite penalty. In case of loss of any book, the borrower as to pay the current price of the book and a fine decided by the Principal.
Books Issues and Returns
The books taken from the library are to be returned on or before the due date specified in the due date slip sticked in the front page of the books. While taking the books staff and students should write their Roll No. on the due date slip pasted in the book. UG, PG and Research students are eligible to take 2, 3 and 4 books respectively from the library. If a book is not returned on the due date another book will not be issued. If a user fails to return the books on the due date the member is liable to be fined Rs. 1 per day. Reference books, Project Reports, Back Volumes and Periodicals will not be issued. They are only for reference inside the library. Users are allowed to take the photocopies of the required articles of periodicals. Photocopying of full book is not permitted. Students before they go on vacation, should return the library books
Any kind of marking, underlining, clipping of books is absolutely forbidden. Readers shall be held responsible for any damage done to the book belonging to the Library and shall be required to replace such book or pay the value thereof.
Bags, Big handbags, Raincoat, Jerkin and Casual wears are strictly prohibited inside the library.
Members are requested to keep their belongings at the entrance of the Library. However they are advised not to leave cell phones, purse, money, credit card and other valuables in the handbag outside the library. These items are liable to be lost.
Library users are strictly prohibited from taking the borrowed and stamped books again inside the library.
Books will not be issued to members on the ID card of others.
If any book is lost or damaged beyond repair, the person responsible shall replace it with a new copy or pay double the cost of the recent price and handling charges or as may be decided by the Librarian.
Membership Cards are not transferable. Books will not be issued to students on the Membership Card of staff members. Books will be issued subject to availability only.
Absence from the college will not be considered as an excuse for the delay in the return of books.
The Borrower will be responsible for any loss or non-return of any books issued against his / her library Card.
Fine amount will not be collected from the students even though books are returned after the Due Date. But, No books will be issued to the students until the students return the book promptly which was already taken. Students’ library account will be locked for one month in case books are returned after the due date.
Every Monday, Consolidated weekly overdue report (books yet to be returned) will be sent to all the departments and the faculty advisors will inform the students and counsel them.
Overdue report will be displayed on the Central Library Notice Board every day.
New books and journals received will be on display for a week.
Reference books, Newspapers, Magazines, Journals may not be taken outside the library. They are meant for Reference Only.
Library users are requested to follow the queue while they want to get books or return books.
Library users are requested to check whether the book is in good condition, when they want to borrow books from the library.
Library users are requested to write their name and sign in the book card while the book is borrowed.
After the book is issued or returned, users are requested to confirm in OPAC whether the book has been issued or returned.
Students are also permitted to recommend some important books to central library when they are in need of books. Books may be recommended with the approval of HOD.
Strict and absolute silence must be observed in the Library. Cell Phone is strictly prohibited inside the Library.
Under special circumstances, the Librarian may refuse the issue of books or recall the books already issued from any member without assigning any reason thereof.
The Library may accept donation of manuscripts, books, periodicals etc. from the donors. Such donations once accepted will become the absolute property of the college.
