Students mentoring system
Student Mentoring System is followed to enhance teacher-student Contact Hours, Enhance students’ Academic Performance and Attendance, Minimize Student drop-out rates, identify and understand the status of Slow Learners and encourage advanced learners, and render equitable service to students. Students are categorized based on the streams of studies and also according to their core subjects. The knowledge, advice, and resources a mentor shares depend on the format and goals of a specific mentoring relationship.
A mentor may share with the mentee information about his or her career path, as well as provide guidance, motivation, emotional support, and role modeling. A mentor may help with exploring careers, setting goals, developing contacts, and identifying resources. The mentor role may change as the needs of the mentees change. One of the most effective systems functioning in the institution that bridges the gap between the student and teaching community is the tutor ward system. Each faculty member is assigned a small group maximum of students as their wards. Faculty members have the responsibility of discipline and guiding their wards on all academic and personal fronts.
Students Achievements Apart from this, the tutor meets the students individually in regular intervals to have a better understanding on their wards. This bridges the gap between the tutors and wards to have ease in discussing the relevant concerns.
The tutors also identify students who are academically weak and make arrangements with a suitable faculty member to conduct coaching classes based on the need. The tutor ward system is not only for academically weak and students with problems and issues but also focuses on motivating the performing students to aim high.
The following are the activities of tutor wards
- Review of attendance
